Justine here, letting you know that Sara and i are back in the blogosphere!
you may have noticed that our daily trip blogging didn't exactly work out
(not even remotely)
we were lucky enough to have had internet access in halifax, and were able to put up a brief post on our travel experiences
unfortunately, although for the entirety of our trip we chose sites that offered free wireless, it *never* worked out!
we got it all:
the wireless was available, but only at the front desk
there's internet, but no electricity to plug in the laptop (which was dead)
the wireless is there, but it's not working right now
the only other location that we were able to gain internet access was in montreal - our very last night of the trip
the cafe had decided to close early, and there was no way to post five days worth of travelling in ten minutes
speedy, yes. lightspeed? no.
and so, we didn't post at all.
which is just terrible, as posts are the entire point of blogging!
we are dedicating ourselves anew, although the blog topics will be changing a little
Sara and i are still students, and still living on a student budget
--> big thanks to our parents for our continued survival!!
we will not be able to finance a summer roadtrip this year, but are looking to take Stella out to some beaches in the area for some (free) fun in the sun!
in the meantime, we will be reviewing sushi in The Annex
turns out this Toronto neighbourhood has got a lot in the way of sushi spots
i will also be including the occasional review on sushi in Kingston
i was surprised to see how many sushi places are around town *yumm*
Sara and i are on the search for the best and tastiest lunch deals that our student budgets can afford!
we're looking for a place to call our own greasy spoon
..or whatever the greasy spoon equivalent is in the sushi world
so send us your recommendations and we'll take a look
we're not in the same city regularly, but with a little patience and a lot of determination, we will meet up in order dine and review
take care everyone - you'll be hearing from us soon!!
~j&s
also, to our loyal readers:
we missed you both <3

what time is it??
MARITIMES!!
aha, yeah.. it's the kind of night that requires that kind of humor!
we're currently in halifax, having done some serious traveling
we started out in kingston yesterday morning, made our way through quebec (with a huuuge delay on the pont champlain - 2h of unexpected trafficjam), but made it through the rest of quebec with relatively little difficulty
new brunswick was a completely different story
absolutely gorgeous scenery, but the highways? they lie.
signs pointing to gas stations that don't appear
and campgrounds with no actual camping areas
but that's alright, because we were able to stay anyway!
we camped out with the RVs in new brunswick!!
and by camped out, i mean we were way too effing tired after 14h+ of driving, and slept in the car. with our luggage. and our sleeping bags.
it was a verry cozy night
we've made our way from new brunswick to nova scotia, and we're about to enjoy a night out in halifax with Carly, Katherine, Zach, Mitch & Jeff. it's going to be quite the night, spent at the finest bars halifax has to offer!!
see you on the flip side..

compass points..
alright, the suspense is over - a decision has been reached!
i know you've all been waiting for this (and by all i mean our dear, loyal readers. all two of you.)
we know which direction we're heading!!
on a related note, it turns out we're more than a little broke
and going out east is a shorter (read: cheaper) trip
so we're giving fair warning to Atlantic Canada:
WATCH OUT MARITIMES - HERE WE COME!!
more updates to come as we establish our route
=> this is your time to send us your thoughts and experiences regarding must-see destinations, landmarks, great restaurants, and any activities or festivals in the region!
so far we're looking at North Cape, PEI, for the seafood platter at Wind and Reef Restaurant
recommended to me by my seatmate on VIA, a traveller from out East en route from Montreal to Colborne, on her way through to cottage country
lovely lady, and i'm sending out a thank-you (although i didn't catch her name)
beyond that, we're hoping to build an inukshuk at some point
and there are plans to release books into the wild throughout the duration of our trip
check out www.bookcrossing.com to see what i'm talking about, and to go hunting for books in your own area
the lyrics for Aerosmith's Amazing stated that, "life's a journey, not a destination"
which is good, because we don't know where we're going.

east or west, that is the question..
h'ok, so -
school is done for the year, and summer is in full swing
we're getting into the planning stages of our trip (projected costs, timelines, etc) and have one big thing to work out:
- where are we going?? -
this is where you come in!
the west coast and the maritimes are both calling - we need your input, your experiences, your must-see places; make them *our* must-see places!
let us know what it is you'd love to do or see in Canada, and we will do our best to make that happen on our student budgets.
the wanderlust is building, and the horizon is looming
where should we go??
sincerely yours,
~j&s
